Changes to the cost of hiking
We're sorry to say that, because of rising costs, we have had to raise the price of many of our hikes. We take pride in offering a high level of service and a safe hiking experience, and, in order to maintain our high standards, the cost of hikes that pass through parks and/or are a long way out of the city will increase. Please click through for a more detailed explanation. (Along with some good news as well.)Short descriptions of this week's hikes are listed below, and our full hiking schedule is on the upcoming hikes page.

Switchback Great Wall and High Tower
On this tough hike you’ll follow a combination of two of our most popular Yanqing trails – the Switchback Great Wall, and the High Tower – two scenic-but-challenging hikes that both feature a lot of climbing up and down. As well as getting great views of the Great Wall, you’ll see mountains, valleys, old terraces and isolated houses and settlements, all in a seldom-visited area of Beijing Municipality. Please note 8am departure.

Tiger Valley
There’s no guarantee of meeting a tiger on this hike - most likely a good thing. The hike starts from the Tiger Valley park in Changping, and follows a mountain trail up and over a ridge, passing a reservoir on the way. From the ridge, we follow a good trail down a shady valley, and will walk out past one of the smaller Ming Tombs.
Tiger Valley - Basic hike information
Cost: 280RMB per person; Bus leaves from Lido Starbucks at 8:30am; 1.5 hours each way; 2.5 - 3 hours of hiking; return approx. 5pm.

Round Tower Great Wall
We’re going to pay a visit to the Round Tower, a lookout and beacon tower that is part of the Great Wall in Miyun District. From the top we will enjoy amazing views in almost every direction - a deep canyon on one side, mountains on the other, and a broad view of the Beijing plain and our path up and down the mountain. After the hike we’ll head to nearby restaurant for a good lunch of Chinese food and views of the Miyun Reservoir

On this hike we’ll take a good look around Cuandixia, a 500-year old Ming Dynasty (1368-1644AD) village that is sometimes referred to as a living museum; eat a good lunch of farmers food; and then take off for a nice walk in the hills around the village before heading back to Beijing. It will be quite a long day, but well worth it!

The Great Flood
We almost named this hike “The Goat’s Trail” after the many herds of goats we saw while scouting the route. Along the way we will follow rivers, climb a steep valley, walk through grassy meadows, and see a village that was abandoned after a particularly large flood. Bring something to eat for lunch - we’ll supply water and snacks.
The Great Flood - Basic hike information
Cost: 280RMB; Bus leaves from Lido Starbucks at 8:30am; 2 hours each way; 4 hours of hiking; return approx. 5pm.
