Beijing Hikers - Hiking in the hills around Beijing since 2001

Hiking photos - Cypress Wells Canyon, 2011/08/06

The Cypress Wells Canyon is a popular place to hike among people who like challenges and enjoy getting close to nature.

We were walking along a plain dirt road which heads to an abandoned village. We had a nice break and picnic there, which gave us the energy to do the nxt part of the hike.

After nice long walk with a bit of climbing we got to an unrestored section of Great Wall, with nice views from the high point. Then we headed to the down the valley to the bus awaited us and enjoyed cold beer and snacks—a nice treat on a humid day.

On the way back we passed the ancient town of Yongning, and stopped for a look at a peaceful church which is very interesting and quite a sharp contrast to the surrounding architecture.
