Hiking photos – Dragon Cloud Mountain, 2012/02/01

For this hike we journeyed way out into Miyun District, passing the big reservoir and driving up into the hills beside the White River.

We climbed up on to Dragon Cloud Mountain to take a look at the Ghost House and the river canyon, before descending and then walking up the river, passing through a cave and crossing over the frozen river.

We started off on a metal walkway by the river.

The top of Dragon Cloud Mountain is bare rock, and we had views of the surrounding mountains and canyons. In the background the Ghost House is visible.

This cave had been used recently for a film set, and they’d left some of the props – giant rocks!

The ice on the river was frozen thick.

We crossed over at this point.

Dry grass, ice, and very cold water.

Interesting shapes in the ice.

We finished the walk by following a road along the river’s edge.
