Hiking photos - Snowy Switchback Great Wall, 2010/02/06
In February we did several hikes in the snow. For this trip, we'd originally planned to walk a different section of Great Wall, but decided that it would be too dangerous with the heavy snow. This easier, shorter hike was difficult enough!
Statistics: 3.5 hours over approx. 6km; start height 677m, finish height 679m, highest point 1077m. 544m total ascent, 530m total descent. Estimated 1672kCal burned.
Falling snow on the valley trail up to the wall.
A tower on the Great Wall, just visible through the snow.
We got on to the wall at a lower point.
A pretty scene, with thick snow covering the wall and branches of a tree.
