Next scheduled trip

350RMB per person; Bus leaves from Lido Starbucks at 8:00am; return approx. 5:30pm     (Reservation information)

Important notice

You'll need to bring your passport or Chinese ID card with you on the hike in case of a security check or local area registration requirements - without ID you won't be able to hike.

This walk begins from the village of Jiangou, at the foot of Miaofeng Mountain and Miaofeng Temple. We have other hikes in the same area that finish in this village, and we’ll cross some of those trails along the way.

From the carpark in the middle of the village we’ll follow the main road up towards their orchards and terraces, turning off to head up a steep and twisting mountainside trail. Halfway up we’ll join one of the many pilgrim trails in the area, a roughly paved path that heads up to a saddle above the village.

From the saddle we’ll follow a trail along the hillside, enjoying the open view of the surrounding mountains, and perhaps meeting some donkeys and firewardens. The trail takes us all the way along the ridge, then down a valley and through a straggly pine forest, passing the house of the local firewarden boss.

The path through the pine forest will take us to a gently rising plateau, where we’ll stop for a snack, rest, and a look around.

From the plateau we’ll start heading down to Vulture Rock Park, at first following a twisting trail through and across rocky crags, and then down through forest along the Vulture Rock Park trail. There are a lot of steps on the way down, so your knees may feel a little sore by the end.

What to bring on this hike?
1-2 liters of water (bring some cold water if you can)
A snack to eat along the way
A hat and sunblock if it is sunny, a waterproof jacket if it looks like it might rain
Good hiking boots
Your passport or ID card (essential)

After the hike we’ll get a late lunch at a local restaurant. (Cost of food and drinks included in the price of the hike.)
