Ready for a great hike? Every week we run hikes and trips to the Great Wall, hills, mountains, forests, and villages around Beijing, with a wide range of hikes that are suitable for casual walkers as well as the super-fit.
Level 3+ / 420 RMB – Walk through chestnut orchards to find a dirt trail that climbs up to the unrestored wall; follow the wall through unrestored and restored sections, making a big climb up to a lookout point high on a ridge. If you're not good with heights, there's a short section of this hike you won't like very much!
Level 4 / 380 RMB – Hike over a 1,000m pass and down the Sujia River, passing Yinmeng Temple on the way, then hike back over a different 1,000m pass to get back on the Beijing side of the mountains. Awesome views of mountains, cliffs, canyons, and the river.
Level 1 / 1,800 RMB (1,620 RMB for members) – Ancient towns and forts, the Lantern Festival parade, and the 300-year old local tradition that sees molten iron being flung against the city walls in lieu of a fireworks display!
