Nine-Eyes Tower snow hike, 2015/02/20

Nine-Eyes Tower snow hike, 2015/02/20

The Nine-Eyes Tower hike is fairly tricky on a good day - steep and rocky, with some very slippery bits.

On this visit we had to change the plan a little: the snow made certain sections of the trail unwalkable, and we shortened the hike to be sure we’d be on the way back before the roads started icing over.

We didn’t see quite as much of the Great Wall as we’d wanted to, but the beautiful snowy scenery certainly made up for that – click through to see the photos!

White River ice hike, 2015/01/27

White River ice hike, 2015/01/27

The White River hike is one of our most popular hikes, but we can only do it at certain times in the year. In summer, heavy rain often means the river runs too high to ford. In early spring and late autumn, the water is too cold! But in the middle of winter, the river freezes over and we can walk down the ice. Click through to see photos from the hike!

20141108-Zhenbiancheng

Zhenbiancheng Great Wall loop hike, 2014/11/8

On this visit to the Zhenbiancheng Great Wall the skies were that special ‘APEC blue’ colour, and the temperatures were cool and crisp. Just perfect for a bit of hiking!

The Great Wall out here dates back to the early Ming Dynasty and hasn’t been repaired or restored since then. That means it’s in fairly rough shape, and during the hike we skirted around those sections – too slippery, and no fun for walking!

Click through to see photos of those tricky sections of Great Wall, and more!

Yajishan Taoist Temples teambuilding trip, 2014/10

This was a special teambuilding trip for the employees of the Swedish Embassy in Beijing. Every year we help them choose a good spot for a great hike that has options for faster hikers as well as those who’d like a more relaxed outing.

This year we went to the Taoist temples at Yajishan, a scenic spot where steep stairs ascend to the two temples at the top, passing smaller temples and shrines on the way.

CNCC teambuilding hike at the Little West Lake, 2014/10

CNCC teambuilding hike at the Little West Lake, 2014/10

We’re best known for our small-group hikes, and over the years we’ve built a solid system of organisation. Over all those years, we’ve also hiked pretty much everywhere in Beijing!

With all that experience we’re able to put together activities for larger groups, chosing locations that suit the activity requirements and fitness levels of participants, and making sure everything runs as smoothly as our normal hikes and trips. And of course there’s going to be some hiking involved.

China National Convention Center (CNCC) chose us to do their October company teambuilding, and we took them out into the hills for a relaxing day out of the office - click through to see photos of hiking and taichi teambuilding.

When one of our hiking regulars asked us to help arrange a teambuilding weekend for his office group, we offered our Yu County trip as a possibility. As it’s a visit to a very rural area that contains many places of historical significance, it’s interesting for people of any culture. And the hiking is not too tough either!

Seen on the trip: old towns and local lifestyles, temples and castles, street markets and farmland. Click through to take a look for yourself!
