Trip highlights
Stone Gate Mountain hike
The Stone Gate Mountain hike follows paved tracks, steps, and trails into the mountains to take a look at the ‘Stone Gate’, a large rock arch high up on a cliff face. The hike continues into the hills, passing a small temple on the way to two small waterfalls, with a shorter and longer option available to finish the walk. (5-8km/3-4 hour hike, options for Level 3 and Level 4)
White River hike
Hike down to the White River and head downstream on trails, gravel tracks, and dirt roads by the riverside, passing below tall cliffs. You'll see the running river, leafy green trees by the riverside, impressive tall and steep cliffs made from massive slabs of rock and boulders, and hopefully the local family of herons that nest high up in the cliffs. (3 hours of easy walking over 9km, Level 3)
Yellow Pines Peak hike
Wake up early for the Yellow Pines Peak hike, a short but steep walk about the hills behind the hotel. We start by following stairs up to a lookout and then make a rather steep climb up a big hill to get on to the trail that leads over to the reservoir overlook on the Great Wall. (est. 2–3 hours.) Doing the whole hike is optional—you can choose to do just the stairs to the lookout, or even go back to bed after breakfast.
Jinhai Lake Dragon Boats
We’ll drive over to a sports and teambuilding base on the far shores of Jinhai Lake for a dragon boat session on the calm* and clear water of the lake. Equipment and instructions included in the trip cost. (1–2 hours.)
* If the wind is deemed too strong for dragon boats we'll do rafting instead.
