Paying for hikes and trips, and cancellation policies

When to pay, how to pay, cancellations and refunds.

Our pricing for hikes and trips can get too complicated for our website to figure out.

We have different prices for members, non-members, kids of this age, kids of that age, plus there are vouchers, membership purchases and renewals, and the 10-Stamps discount for members.

That means we don’t do automatic online payments. (We could do automatic online payments but we think doing that would make our booking process way too difficult for you.)

As part of the booking process we ask you to let us know if you are a member, and you can let us know if there are kids, vouchers, discounts, memberships, and any add-ons associated with your booking. We use that information to calculate the price for you.

Payments

When to pay, how to pay

We typically require payment in advance for the hikes and trips. We’ll contact you to arrange that payment when we receive your booking.

For day hikes, we usually collect the payments two working days before the hike.

For multi-day hikes and private trips, we collect the payment earlier.

Payment methods

  • Wechat or Alipay mobile payments
  • PayPal (USD)
  • Transfer to Wise bank account (USD)

Prices listed exclude tax. If you’d like a tax fapiao printed we’ll need to add the 1-3% VAT to the cost.

Cancellations

Is there a cancellation/refund policy?

Yes, there is.

For day hikes

  • You can get a refund if you cancel before 4pm on the last working day before the hike.
  • If you cancel after 4pm on the last working day there will be a cancellation fee of ¥50 per person plus any money we’ve already spent on your behalf. (e.g. tickets, vehicles)
  • If we cancel the hike we’ll give you a full refund.

For multi-day hikes in Beijing (e.g. camping)

  • You can get a refund if you cancel no later than 4pm on two working days before the hike.
  • If you cancel after that there will be a cancellation fee of ¥100 per person plus any money we’ve already spent on your behalf. (e.g. tickets, vehicles, outdoor insurance, equipment and supplies)
  • If we cancel the hike we’ll give you a full refund.

We’ll send refunds as soon as possible.

For multi-day trips outside of Beijing

For these trips it’s a bit more complicated. Please read the Payment Terms and Conditions for full details.
