Girl Scout’s hike at Changyucheng, 2018/04/14
See 20 photos from the Girl Scout’s hike out at Changyucheng.
The name of the village, Changyucheng, translates roughly as “Long Valley Town”. It’s way out in the hills, and it is indeed sited in a very long valley. We hadn’t been out there for quite a few years, so we went out scouting in winter, during the planning part of the event. Without a doubt, the spring view at Changyucheng is more attractive than winter.
After a stroll through the village we did a loop hike in the hills. It was a windy but beautiful day. We spotted peach blossoms, apricot blossoms, frog eggs in the reservoir, and even a wild pheasant on a cliff!
The loop hike featured quite a tough climb up a big hill, but we made it to the top. A tablet on top of the hill marks the border of Beijing and Hebei Province, and we enjoyed a picnic right there by the border.
After lunch we continued the hike, walking back down by the reservoir and then down to the village for a look about.
We had a really good time on the hike and headed back to school safely.
Big thanks to the Girl Scouts for asking us to help them organise a hike!
