The weekend before this camping trip the weather was lovely and mild, and we were looking forward to getting out for a night on the Great Wall.
But then the weather turned cold again, and it even snowed the day before we were going to go out.
Did we still go? Of course ... but with two sleeping bags per person!
Hiking up to the campsite.
On the wall at Gubeikou.
Cool weather on the wall.
A new take on a location for a photo.
We hiked up through the tower on the hill
The Gubeikou Great Wall runs through the hills up to the 24-Eyes Tower.
A watch tower with domed roof.
We headed on toward our camp site
Tents are set up.
Enjoy the view.
Yolanda is getting the grill set up.
The next day we hiked on to Jinshanling, going through Spider Valley.
Up on the wall again
Looking out the window.
Striking a pose.
Here we’re almost at the Jinshanling Great Wall.
Long views back towards Gubeikou.
Another great spot for a portrait.
What’s over there?
Ah ... a big climb up to a tower is over there.
Looking back again.
On the wall at Jinshanling, and almost finished the hike.
