Gubeikou Great Wall Loop, 2017/1/30
Fifteen photos from a walk along the Gubeikou Great Wall.

We had a lovely and mild blue sky day for this Spring Festival walk along the Great Wall at Gubeikou, giving excellent views of the wall and surrounding mountains.
See more info about the hike in the captions of the photos.

Starting out in Gubeikou Village.

Up the path to the wall.

Hiking along the wall.

Near the end of an off-wall detour, and getting near the main line of Great Wall at Gubeikou.

Looking back along the trail. In this photo you can see where bricks have fallen away to reveal the inside of the wall, which in this area is made up of rammed earth and compacted rubble. In the far off mountains is the ‘Crouching Tiger’ Mountain Great Wall.

Hiking down from a tower.

Hiking up to a tower.

Inside the tower.

On the hike we do an up-and-back segment to take a look at 24-Eyes Tower, seen on the peak in the top left of the photo.

Looking down from the 24-Eyes Tower.

A window with a view. The steel struts are holding the tower together.

Hiking back down.

Almost at the end.

The steps took us down from the wall and to the finish.
