Hemp Village to Gubeikou Great Wall, 2016/4/17
Photos from a blue-sky hike from Hemp Village to the Gubeikou Great Wall.
We like the Hemp Village to Gubeikou hike because – as well as great views of the Great Wall – we also get a look at rural life in the countryside as we walk through Hemp Village and the surrounding farmland.
On this visit we had perfect weather – clear, with a big blue sky full of puffy white clouds.

The start point of the hike – a nondescript spot by the narrow road that leads into Hemp Village.

In a few months these fields will be full of corn.

On this visit we took a wee detour to avoid all the runners from the Great Wall marathon. That meant picking a path through the fields in an adjacent valley.

Back on our regular track.

An abandoned farm house.

A trail through forest took us up to the Great Wall.

Almost up on the wall.

Looking back down the hill trail.

Great Wall under clouds in a blue sky.

Great spot for a rest.

Taking a break at 24-Eyes Tower.

In the background is the Gubeikou Great Wall, which we’d follow to the end.

Shady inside a tower.

We walked down hill trails to finish the hike.

After the hike we had a big meal at a countryside restaurant.
