Triangle Hike, 2020/12/12
See 12 photos from a long countryside ramble that passed by orchards, fields, hills, a Tiger God shrine, and an ice-fishing extravaganza.
We’ve had to rearrange our Triangle Hike trail a few times over the years.
The first time was when the valley where we’d start got bought out by a hotel developer, and the caretakers stopped letting us through.
The second time was when the new gas pipeline went in and made a big ditch.
And the most recent time was when the last half of the trail got covered up by a new road.
On previous hikes through the manager of the fishing reservoir had told us about a trail that “went over the hills that way behind the reservoir”, but he wasn’t sure where it ended up.
We did a scouting trip to find out where that trail ended up, and figured out – after getting just a little bit lost – how to hike out to one of the villages on the other side of the hills.
On this hike, we did that new trail. Fingers crossed no one builds a road through this one!
