Walled Village to Huanghuacheng Great Wall, 2017/6/3
Fourteen photos from a hike from the Walled Village to the Huanghuacheng Great Wall.
Nearby the Huanghuacheng Great Wall is an old walled village, which was once a barracks for Ming Dynasty soldiers. Somewhat strangely, it’s outside of the wall.
We started our visit with a look about the village, walking through the narrow lanes and climbing up on to the old walls.
After that it was time for the big climb up to the Great Wall. We followed field trails from the village, passing through the villagers’ chestnut orchards. At the back of the fields we found the narrow hill trail that would take us all the way up to the wall.
The first part of the wall we walked was an unrepaired section. We followed it down to the dip at the pass at Zhuangdaokou, and from there we were on a repaired section that took us up and over another peak.
From the peak we could see the reservoir far below, and we walked all the way down to finish the hike.
