Xiangshan ‘Fragrant Hills’ study trip, 2019/07/21

See 15 photos from a expert-led study trip to the 'Imperial Mountainous Garden' of Fragrant Hills Park in west Beijing.

For something a bit different, we organised a special trip in Fragrant Hills, a park area in the west of Beijing.

While there are hiking trails in the park we were focusing mainly on learning about the history of some of the buildings in the park—ancient history, in the Imperial Mountainous Garden, and more recent history, in the I.M. Pei-designed Xiangshan Hotel.

With local historian Yang Zheng and Beijing Hikers founder Sun Huilin leading, and some special maps and photos prepared, we were really able to get into the details.
