Perfect weather, super scenery, and long views of the Great Wall at Gubeikou and Jinshanling – a recipe for a great walk!

On this hike we were lucky to have blue skies and warm weather that wasn’t too hot. To go with that, at this time of year there’s also plenty of greenery in the hills to contrast with the greys of the Great Wall.

We hiked all of the Gubeikou section of the Great Wall, peaking at 24-Eyes Tower before heading down through Spider Valley to Hemp Village.

From there we hiked up to the west side of the Jinshanling Great Wall, and then walked all the way over to the east side – a lot of stairs to climb, but very much worth the sweat.
