Hiking photos - Plants, wildlife, 2010/09
A lot of the photos on our website focus on scenery. In this collection of photos you'll see some of the plants, animals, and insects we spotted out and about in September 2010.
A horse we bumped into on the Big Plate Camp hike.
A basket of crab-apples, collected by farmers in the Big Plate Camp area.
This friendly farmer dipped into his basket and gave us a handful of crab-apples to try out - not sure where he got his Pizza Hut bag from!
According to Huijie's flower book, these are Orostachys Malacophyllus flowers. We saw them growing in the rocks at Longyunshan.
A big pig enjoying the shade, Rolling Hills hike.
The 'alpha' goat, Rolling Hills hike.
There were a lot more of these spiders about on the day we cleared the Rolling Hills trail, all hanging about head height.
A donkey family on the way to the Silver Pagodas.
An extremely colourful caterpillar, Big Black Mountain hike.
A praying mantis, spotted near the Walled Village.
