Hiking photos - War Tunnels and Lost Village, 2009/12/03
This trip began with a walk through a network of underground tunnels created and used by villagers and soldiers during the war in the 1930s and '40s. The tunnels and the houses they joined are now part of a museum. After visiting the museum we took a nice walk in the hills, passing through fields and valleys on the way to the Lost Village.

Corn is collected for the winter.

Use of donkey-powered transport is common in rural areas.

A machine is used to strip the kernels from the corn cob.

Walking through the hills on the way to the Lost Village.

The path led through cornfields.

In summer it's hard to find the way through this part because the grass grows so high.

Scraggly goats.

Taking a break in the hills.

Big horns on these goats!
