Jiankou to Mutianyu Great Wall, 2017/7/8
Eighteen photos from the walk from Jiankou over to the Mutianyu Great Wall.

After a rainy week in Beijing we were happy to see clear skies forecast for our walk on the wall between Jiankou and Mutianyu.
The storms in Beijing had been heavy enough that many of the park areas in Beijing’s mountains – including Mutianyu – had been closed for safety.
We were all good today, though.
The first part of the hike was the toughest, with a big hill to climb before we’d even reach the wall. But after that it got easier, and we hiked the unrepaired Jiankou wall all the way over to the repaired section at Mutianyu.
Photos below!

Taking a break on the tough climb up to the wall. You can’t see it in this photo, but there’s more wall on the hills opposite.

And again.

We’d hike all the wall in this photo, plus more.
