Special Trip Photos - Bashang Grasslands, 2010/06/18
In June 2010 we made a two day trip to the Bashang Grasslands in the north of Hebei Province, very close to Inner Mongolia.
We left Beijing on the afternoon of Friday June 18, and drove north, heading for the Fengning area of the Bashang Grasslands.
The Bashang Grasslands are sited on the junction of the Mongolian Plateau, the Inner Mongolia Grasslands, and the North China Plain. The average altitude of the area is 1,300m above sea level, making it much cooler than Beijing city - one of the main reasons that this is an excellent place to visit during summer!
The other main reasons to visit are the beautiful rolling hills and grasslands, which are great for hiking and horse-riding - we did plenty of that, and also got a good look at the local culture.
A selection of Huijie's photos from the trip can be seen below; we've got lots more for you to look at in our Bashang 2010 photo gallery.
