Earth Day clean up hike photos, 2014/04/20
Photos from the clean up hike we did for Earth Day 2014.
April 22 is Earth Day, and around that time every year we organise a clean up hike.
This year, we chose to go picking up trash at the Great Wall at Huanghuacheng after seeing way too much litter there as we passed by on a hike in March.
As well as picking up a whole lot of rubbish – plastic bottles, tissue paper, instant noodle cups, and plenty of other weird stuff, almost too much to carry away! – we also met a lot of other hikers and day-trippers who were curious about what we were doing, and agreed that it's a good idea to keep nature nice and clean.
Many thanks to those who helped out, and special thanks to Xing Yi for the following photos and a great write up in China Daily.

Getting started on the clean up below the wall.

Our bags were filling up quickly!

We'd just finished collecting all the empty bottles and paper from this tower.

We carried all the rubbish down to make sure it was disposed of appropriately.
Thanks again to everyone who helped out!
