It was raining the whole time during our drive to the wall, and we were a bit worried about the hike.
In the end, no need to worry – the rain stopped just after we arrived, and we enjoyed a walk on the Great Wall.
After the rain the temperatures stayed cool, and the views of the wall were enhanced by all the low clouds.
The streets of Gubeikou Village were still wet – the rain had been rather heavy.
We stopped to take a look at the lilies in the canal.
We hiked up to the big North Gate, where we’d get on to the wall.

About an hour into the hike we were able to look back along the trail, with views of more Great Wall on the other side of the river.
