Hiking photos – Gubeikou to Jinshanling Great Wall, 2012/03/24
As spring arrives in Beijing, we often get very nice weather – clear blue skies, and very comfortable temperatures.
We had that sort of day for our March 24 hike along the Gubeikou and Jinshanling stretches of Great Wall, a hike where we tried to walk as far as we could!
We started off at Gubeikou, and followed the main line of wall there until we reached the 24-Eyes Tower. After a valley detour around a closed section of wall, we joined up again with the wall, and continued to the restored section at Jinshanling. We walked all of the Jinshanling section, and a few hikers walked on towards Simatai before heading back to meet the main group.
The wall in this area is a very good example of Ming Dynasty construction, and there are both restored and unrestored sections to get a look at.

This stretch of wall shows crenellations and ramparts in a style that is said to be unique to the Jinshanling Great Wall.
