Hemp Village to Jinshanling Great Wall, 2017/1/15
An unexpected snow day! See fifteen photos from our hike from Hemp Village to Jinshanling.

We arrived out at Hemp Village to find snow on the ground, with more still falling. Quite a surprise, after the clear blue skies of the previous day.
We started the walk with a long stroll into Hemp Village, and then climbed up hill trails to get on the western end of the Jinshanling Great Wall.
“Jinshanling” can be translated as “Gold Mountain Ridge”, and we did see a lovely golden light on the wall as the sun started going down later in the day.

Getting ready to set out.

We usually tie a lot of red ribbons to mark the trail – no need today, as our footprints were the only ones to be seen in the snow.

Snow covered the road into Hemp Village.

We hiked further into the valley.

In summer these fields are full of corn.

Low clouds, more snow on the way.

Sun through the trees.

The road narrows as we get closer to Hemp Village.

Up by the wall.

We hiked a track on the outside of the wall.
