At the start of the hike we walked through a village, and saw these peppers nearly ready to pick.

Goats are sifting through the remains of the chestnut harvest, looking for something to eat.

This large ornamental gate marks the entrance to a disused hotel.

The road up to the hotel took us past small reservoirs.

After a big hill climb, we reached the wall, and a tower.

Off in the distance is the Great Wall at Jiankou.

The wall here is overgrown with trees and shrubs.

We followed a trail on the wall, through all the trees.

Inside one of the towers is this tablet, inscribed with a record of the work done during construction. This stretch was built in the fifteenth century.

On the way down from the wall, we could see a section of it that wasn't in such good condition.
