Hiking photos – Triangle Hike and Silver Pagodas, 2012/01/22
For this hike we joined two of our older trails to make a longer trek, starting with a long walk through the countryside before climbing up to the top of the mountain behind the Silver Pagodas.
The weather was cold and clear, and because it was Chinese New Year eve there were hardly any people out and about in the countryside.
Hiking team, ready to go!
The hike led us down valleys, over hills, and through chestnut orchards.
We walked through a broad valley, crossing a frozen stream.
A few puppies came out to take a look at us.
The trail took us through fields of tall grass.
We passed a shrine and an old pine tree.
We stopped here for a short break before continuing.
Passing through a small village, we saw some goats.
On the way through another small village, we saw people carrying paper models of houses and temples. These weren’t giant fireworks, unfortunately!
The hike finished at the Silver Pagodas, a temple site that dates back to the ninth century.
There are several tablets near the pagodas with beautiful carved calligraphy.
An old ornament from the temple site.
