We started this hike with a fairly long, but moderate, ascent up a hillside to reach a ridgeline, which provided us with great views of all of the surrounding valleys and peaks. From there we continued to follow a path up high on the hill which led us around to the area known as Phoenix Ridge. From Phoenix Ridge various trails lead down towards Beijing. On this hike we headed down to Vulture Rock park.

This is the youngest member of a family of donkeys we see just about every time we walk in the area.
