Hiking photos – Vulture Rock Park, 2012/03/11
We started this hike with a fairly long, but moderate, ascent up a hillside to reach a ridgeline, which provided us with great views of all of the surrounding valleys and peaks. From there we continued to follow a path up high on the hill which led us around to the area known as Phoenix Ridge. From Phoenix Ridge various trails lead down towards Beijing. On this hike we headed down to Vulture Rock park.

A great view of a deep valley, with the peaks of Beijing's West Mountains stretching off into the distance.

This is the youngest member of a family of donkeys we see just about every time we walk in the area.

From Phoenix Ridge we could see the edge of Beijing's urban sprawl.

We had snacks in a village near Vulture Rock park before returning to the city.
