Special Trip Photos - Wuyuan, April 3-5, 2010
At the beginning of April we did a special 3-day trip to Wuyuan County in Jiangxi Province. Wuyuan possesses great natural beauty, and is famous for gorgeous, vast fields of yellow rapeseed flowers, the main focus of this trip. Also in the area: Jingdezhen, the ‘Porcelain Capital’ of China; several ancient villages with well-preserved architecture; the Rainbow Bridge; and the Jiangling Mountains.
Below are a few of Huijie's photos from the trip. People based in Beijing will find the photos interesting, as the lifestyle and land of southern China is quite different to that in the north.
Hikers and a giant old tree.
Washing up by the river in one of the ancient villages.
Walking through the fields of flowers.
A scene from the streets of one of the villages we visited.
A group of kids with a farmer and water buffalo.
Many of the villages we visited were sited close to rivers.
We strolled through the fields of flowers that surrounded the villages.
A villager walks by the fields, carrying a heavy load.
In Beijing, we the animal we see used most to assist on farms is the donkey; in Wuyuan it was the water buffalo.
The dirt road between villages was bordered by fields of flowers.
We hiked up into the hills to get a view of the village and surrounding fields.
One of the many beautiful scenes in the area.
A stepping stone river crossing.
One of the dishes we tried out on the trip.
This youngster was stowed in a steaming-barrel to prevent potential mischievousness. Normally used for steaming food, the barrels are sometimes used during winter to keep the kids warm.
